Sometimes, eventually, some dreams do become real.
In this case, my dream of creating a programmable system
that would enable the tangible and audible interaction with small holograms.
The resulting novel technology is intended
as a means for new research into surface-orthogonal fingertip control actions.
While such control actions unfold, a range of stimuli are computed in real time:
•
touch stimuli (including passive touch, active touch, haptics, and manipulation);
•
visual stimuli (in glasses-free stereoscopic 3D, and at the same spatial scale as touch);
•
auditory stimuli (including musical applications).
Ghostfinger is introduced in
this paper.
